In episode 1 of the BLAH podcast, Colby and Shay talk about what they think the 3 things to hold people back from achieving their goals.

In this week’s episode on the podcast, we dive into what we think are the 3 main categories of things that hold people back from achieving their goals. These are things that we have noticed in our own journey as well as those around us. You may only relate to one of these categories, or maybe you have a combination. Either way, we believe that by being able to point out what are the things that are stopping you, it becomes easier to deal with those things and not let them hold you back.

1. Fear

The first category we talk about is fear. We have known and unknown fear’s that play a role in our mindset of taking action to what feels impossible. Shay talks about how one of her fears is failure. For Colby, it is his personality changing once he accomplishes his dream.

2. Limiting beliefs

The second category is liming beliefs that influence your self-confidence. What we believe about ourselves and the world deeply influence us. Everyone will have their own unique beliefs that they carry. One of Shay’s beliefs is that she is mediocre at everything and not good at anything. Rather for Colby, it is about if I master something I will get bored of it.

“Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.” — Tony Robbins

3. Resources

The third category is resources that are broken down into time, money and skill. We believe these are the easiest ones to become excuses as to why you can’t take action. For us, we find that money has been the biggest reason that has been a hindrance for us.

Now that we can pinpoint the things that are holding us back, we chat about what are the things that we are doing today as a couple to help us stay on track and take that daily action towards achieving goals.

We know that things can start to feel impossible when you start to make a list of all the things that might be holding you back. But we want to give hope that it is possible to move forward with your goals even with all the baggage you may have. People around the world are changing the way they think, act and say every day. That means you can do it too!

We all will continue to make mistakes. We will catch ourselves using excuses and letting our fears and limiting beliefs influence us. For us, it’s just about acknowledging those things, telling them to peace out and try your best every single day.
